How actgroup started their book cover journey
Territory Manager Training
We're a national sales training company. This is a workbook that will be used by students during training classes.
Territory sales managers within large companies
Book cover type
We will be working with an outside printer; sometimes we build the books in-house and sometimes we get them printed externally.
This workbook is for sales managers in air conditioning companies who hire salespeople and keep track of sales numbers. Therefore, the cover should show professional-yet-everyday-worker types of images. Fonts should be sans serif or slab. Images should invoke impressions of successful businesses, successful salespeople and managers. The target audience are technically-strong, business-minded, and hard-working men and women who are proud of their work. Colors should not be pure primaries. Photos of young adults and middle-aged men and women, dressed for work are good. Abstract drawings that illustrate concepts, such as climbing arrows on a "profits" chart or something similar are also fine. (See attached pdf files for examples. Photos of people aren't necessary if you can come up with a good concept-illustrator).
What to avoid
No suits-and-ties. Nothing feminine. No pure primary colors. No flashy cars, glittering man-jewelry, or anything that says "sleazy salesman". No babes in high heels or business suits.
