LSDDESIGN is very intuitive and responsive to the design needs and taste of the customer. It was a pleasure working with LSDdesign again for this project. Thank you for a clean and distinctive design for my book cover.
How djtspeaks started their book cover journey
Finding your superpower within
Dominique Jordan Turner
Dominique Jordan Turner is the President & CEO of Chicago Scholars, a nonprofit organization that supports aspiring leaders to become the first in their family to graduate from college. She is one of 20 inaugural Obama Fellows selected among 20,000 applications from 191 different countries. She is also the founder and face of Speak On It, a video blog all about leadership, success and the art of winning. Having been the first in her family to also graduate from college, she believes that those who dare to be the first have unique strengths or superpowers that the world needs.
There are hundreds of programs across the country that exist to help students navigate being the first in their families to get to and through college. This same level of support is needed as those same students transition from college into the world of work. Similar to college feeling like a culture shock, the work environment is even more foreign. The rules for success are often unwritten and not taught in college. This book uncovers some of the most important lessons that first generation college graduates need in order to be successful at work. It is a must have for all recent college grads!
The target audience will likely be majority black or latino ages 18-29. Readers may be part of college access programs like Chicago Scholars or members of multicultural organizations on college campuses across the country.
Book cover type
I like the ripped look. Perhaps one side being "urban" and the other side being "corporate" to represent the two different worlds they coming together.
This is the most literal design. Instead of the superman "S" on the chest, it could be "1st". I have t-shirts that say "Being the 1st is my SuperPower"
I like this simplicity. It represents strengths or superpowers.
Love everything about this. The design is beautiful and unique. Love the black and white with the pop of color. the image and text is my style!
What colors do you want to see in your design?
I'd like for the book to be professional and appealing to both men and women.
What to avoid
I'm not a fan of script/italics.
Strong and bold is the feeling I'm going for.
Avoid anything that looks childish.
