New Leaf offers a kid-centric workshop environment where kids of all ages can experience the DIY maker-space culture. Tools and guidance will be available in an "apple store" aesthetic; bright, clean, safe and structured. New Leafs mission is to teach kids how to learn for themselves, how to apply knowledge in creative ways and to develop useful skills. We place a high degree of value on empiricism, critical thinking, independence, creativity, and ultimately the joy of figuring out how things work. Tools to be offered for use in an age appropriate way include 3D printers, CNC mills, lathes, routers, jigsaws, drills, and a variety of electronic components to allow kids to create almost any conceivable object imaginable. Eventually, we expect to have summer camp options as well as provide space for birthday parties however free open workshop space is our main offering.

We want our logo to be broadly appealing to kids of all ages. It can't be too infantile or "rainbow" We want to be able to appeal to kids from 5-18 year of age. Looking for an iconic design, simplistic, meaningful with an apple store slick aesthetic. Creativity, fun and clean simplicity is the image we want to project. I recommend looking at other maker-space organizations for ideas. Many have abstract graphics related to circuits, robotics, power tools or just tools in general. We have a particular interest in electronics, robotics and 3D printing and design so these might be options to explore.
