-- DESIGNERS: Please read the brief CAREFULLY -- All designs will receive personalized feedback from a QA team. Add on: Please do not use a light bulb or similar (simple, overused idea) as part of the imagery. This is generic and what we want to avoid. Add on 2: Entrants will be required to justify their choice of design for the QA panel for personalized feedback We are a Stanford University affiliated 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Silicon Valley that uses the latest in mobile technologies to develop learning and critical thinking in children and adults around the world. We use the latest learning pedagogies in our self-developed technology in order to make world class education affordable to even the lowest bracket incomes. Our focus is on reducing the digital literacy gap using technology, and this is accomplished through portable/mobile technologies where access to the internet is limited. As the world moves forward increasingly into the digital age, many communities worldwide continue to lag behind with their resources and knowledge of technology. This can severely impact the quality of education of future generations, as they may find themselves lacking in the digital skills required in order to be competitive in a job market. We provide help primarily to children who are part of underprivileged communities and need our help the most. Our partners in the past have ranged from private investors to major players within the technology industry such as Samsung and Google. We have operated in over 30 countries and have reached hundreds of thousands of teachers and students. Part of our work is to communicate stories. Stories about people, about lives, and how a child halfway across the world could be just as talented as the individual sitting next to you in a top class university, but instead lacks the resources to move forward. Seeds of Empowerment is undergoing a modern update of its website and the brand requires a logo that is unique, stands out and represents the best of the best in innovation. Growth and the development of children are at the heart of this company. However, it should be stressed that we are NOT a charity organisation. While our values and our work shares many similarities to charities, we are a professional non-profit that needs to be viewed in the image of a corporation. This is extremely important moving forward as this design will be presented in all forms of media. In summary, we require: - A complex and imaginative representation of an organisation that fuses education and technology. We are always looking forward and innovating. - A design that is of the top quality that can be proudly used on business cards, presentations, and will represent us wherever we go. - A design that tells a story about who we are at our core, and is something that communicates to an audience our mission. Designers, please be sure to CAREFULLY read the additional information BELOW for our requirements.
We require designers who can cleverly implement critical thinking, technology and education into a logo in a way that is authentic and unique. Complexity is the name of the game. Simple logos will not make the cut. We are an innovative technology non-profit, and the logo needs to be INNOVATIVE as well. This is critical. We prefer innovative ideas that tell a story straight away - as if you were telling someone a story about technology and children and how their lives have been changed by the education technology provided. Take yourself into the shoes of an impoverished child who has their world changed by technology and education. How would that story be represented on a logo? The best designs will ideally represent these complex themes without being overly convoluted. Attention to detail is required, and the logo needs to be able to be recognisable in an instant. Imagination is required. The Seeds of Empowerment name is rather long, so it must be incorporated into the logo in a way that adds to the whole instead of detracting from the overall message. In other words, there must be a specific balance between text and imagery. Keywords can include: critical thinking, growth, development, technology, future, human compassion, warmth, equal opportunities, developing and fostering talent, charity (be very careful with this one, we are NOT a charity, but our work is similar to what charities do). Our original logo focused on seeds and growth - while this is an idea to consider, it is also very generic. We are not simply any other charity or non profit organisation - our technology involves AI, critical thinking, and modern research. If you are thinking of simple concepts and representations of technology or thinking (i.e lightbulb on a head, WWW globe), your designs will not be accepted. These are FAR too generic and are not what we are looking for. It must be modern and future looking, while not straying too far from aiding humanity through education at the core.
