h.scimone got their new illustration or graphics by running a design contest:
Design a tech savvy student guide cover for computer science & engineering
Check out h.scimone's Illustration or graphics contest…
We are a Computing School within a university that provides undergraduate degrees in Bioinformatics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Software Engineering. Target audience is Australian high school students interested in technology, computing, science, maths and engineering.
What's your vision?
I would like a new cover design for our student guide. The guide is an A4 printed booklet and includes information about our degrees and the school. It is our primary piece of marketing collateral that we use to hand out to prospective students. To be successful in your design I would like to see our core disciplines visually represented somehow, they are: Bioinformatics Engineering; Computer Engineering; Software Engineering; Computer Science. The design needs to appeal to both female and male students (in general, we are trying to attract more females into the Computing). Our aim is to support an inclusion and diverse learning environment and welcome all students with any level of programming experience. I envision a fun, funky-tech, bright and contemporary design (nothing too dark or masculine). Our Faculty colour/brand is red and we have a four different shades to choose from. Red does not have to be used overly in the design but it is good to note if you want to accentuate something or tie it in somehow (1. C=0,M=95,Y=100,K=0; 2. C=0,M=95,Y=100,K=20; 3. C=0,M=95,Y=100,K=40; 4.C=0,M=95,Y=100,K=60). You can be as creative as you like for the design! This is our website if you'd like to find out a little bit more about us: https://www.engineering.unsw.edu.au/computer-science-engineering/
UNSW has branding requirements, that will be added to the cover design afterwards (please start the main design from at least 70mm from top of page so it is not obscured. You also need to include a title for the guide, "UNSW Computing Student Guide 2018" (using Sommet font).

And then… they selected a winner!
Andrew's design fulfilled the brief and he was very responsive to my comments and feedback to alter some elements within a timely and efficient manner. Great work, you were professional and easy to work with. Thank you very much!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
