Scouts BSA is the traditional Scouting experience for youth in the fifth grade through high school. Service, community engagement, outdoor activities (camping, hiking, skiing, etc.) and skills (orienteering, knot tying survival, etc.), and leadership development become increasingly important parts of the program as youth lead their own activities and work their way toward earning Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout. This requires serving in leadership positions, completion of merit badges (a portion of the ~137 available), demonstration of many skills, and a community service project. All of the families have ties to Yokota AB and the military. They all have high levels of service and enjoy the role they play in being good partner builders within the Japanese communities. Troop 45 is focused on developing youths (ages 10-18), girls and boys, within the Yokota AB community in Japan.
