Joy556 got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Create logo for Spark Media Solutions
Check out Joy556's Logo design contest…
We are brand journalists. Companies hire our firm to create editorial-based content (e.g., videos, blog posts, podcasts, photographs, articles). This content helps make our clients' brands more visible, helps give our clients a voice, and helps our clients be seen as influencers within their industries. A vast majority of our revenue comes from live event reporting. (Companies hire us as journalists to cover conferences on their behalf. The content is then distributed on their website and traditional media channels with our clients' branding.) In addition to communications consulting work, we also write white papers, case studies, and blogs for our clients. Last year, we added WordPress blog development to our list of services. We are often hired in conjunction with ad agencies and PR firms because content, not advertising, is what gets people noticed and traded in search and social media. More information on us is available at: http://www.sparkmediasolutions.com/
Logo types to explore
What we are looking for: - A logo that speaks to what we as a company do, which is brand journalism. - A modern and professional logo, though a bit of playfulness or humor is certainly okay. - Text that is legible. We want our entire business name, "Spark Media Solutions" in the logo. - - - - - - - - - - - What is resonating with us: - Logo elements involving communication motifs, such as speech bubbles are working well. Feel free to explore other motifs along the lines of journalism, branding, communications, media, etc. - - - - - - - - - - - Here's what to avoid: - RESIST THE URGE TO ADD A SPARK MOTIF TO YOUR DESIGN. We are more interested in conveying what it is we do with our logo than playing on our Spark name. Two days into this contest, we've yet to see a design with a spark, fire, sunburst, etc that has worked well for us. Unless we specifically ask you to work a spark into one of your existing designs, you are very likely wasting your time. - Avoid generic graphics. A pretty circle, star, box, etc that fits us just as well as it fits a doctor's office or a law firm, will be eliminated. - Avoid too much play with the letter forms. We like the designs that keep our letters intact better than the ones that have substituted a letter or part of a letter for a spark or speech bubble, etc. - A stand-alone video camera in the icon will not work. We do a lot of video production, but we do not want to be defined solely as such. - Do not use a pen or pencil as your icon. Most of our clients are in the tech space, so this is a bit of a disconnect. We also do not want to be perceived only as writers. - We are not interested in a typical Web 2.0 company logo (heavy use of gradients, reflected shadows, etc). We’re not an application, so that shouldn’t be our look. - - - - - - - - - - - Logo Type: This form only allows us to select up to 3 types of logos. We are okay with any of the styles except for Letter Form used alone (we want our full name used), and generic Web 2.0. If you are awesome at Word Mark logos, go for it. Our logo does not have to have a separate graphic element. - - - - - - - - - - - Audience: Our audience are midsize to enterprise businesses, most often in tech (that’s our expertise given that we’re tech journalists). Companies come to us often after they’ve realize a PR firm or ad agency is not the right business to create media. - - - - - - - - - - - Current logo: For your reference, we've included our current logo. We are changing logos because it is no longer working for us. Do not feel obligated to keep any elements from here, well maybe our name. ;-) - - - - - - - - - - - Questions \ clarification: If you have any questions or if you have any guidance as to how to best communicate and work with your fellow 99Designers, please speak up. We are answering site mail, and will respond to comments left in the general area. Thank you for looking at our brief.
