I'm a web developer; I'm specialized in creating and maintaining custom web applications (management software, backoffices, CMS and so on). My customers are mainly small to medium companies searching to outsource the development and maintenance of their web applications
I'll add here some answers to a brief I've found in the net:
Q: What is the name of your company?
Q: Do you have a company tagline or slogan that could be used as part of the logo?
A: I'm not sure I'm going to insert a tagline in the logo. A tagline I'm considering is "coding with love" because it conveys the idea that I'm not going to code a product, but to nurture an asset of my customers.
Q: What product(s) or service(s) do your business provide?
A: I develop and maintain web software (eg. the backoffice of their ecommerce, or a software used as CRM o CMS, or a sotfware used in order to analyze how the staff of my customer is using their time). I'm specialized in software written from scrratch, not software like prestashop, wordpress and so on (even if I occasionally do these sort of jobs)
Q: How many years has your company been in business?
A: I formally opened my company in 2011, but I had worked on web software for 2 years before of that date and I was doing occasionally (non web related) development before.
Q: How many employees work for your company?
A: I'm the only member of my staff. I outsource part of my job to an external freelancer from time to time.
Q: Who are your competitors?
A: Other custom developers like me; wordpress developers are in a sense competitors (a customer could choose to develop a solution using wordpress instead of building a custom solution using my skills) but I'm not so interested to enter the wordpress (or prestashop, drupal and so on) market.
Q: What differentiates you from your competitors?
A: My main focus is to develop and make the software better and more extensible.
When I leave a job the software is easier to understand and maintain that it was before. I'm able to read and maintain software that I did not write, and that is porly commented or written.
My customers choose me not because I do a better price but because they care abot their software in the long term. It is not that I'm particularly priced but I prefer customers choosing me for my skills.
Q: Is there a unique story behind your business?
A: I come from the academic world (I have a phd in math and worked as assistant researcher in theoretical computer science until around 2010. Then I chose to move to an informatics related job.
Q: Are there any inspiring visuals associated with your business?
A: If I had to choose some key ideas that I'd like to convey they would be precision, passion, competence and reliability . If I had to choose some key ideas I do not particularly care to convey they would be cheapness, speed and short-term.
Q: Where do you see your business/service in 5 years time?
A: I'm probably gradually move out of web development. I do not have a clear vision about where I'll go.. perhaps AI software or api development.. we'll see :)
Q: What does your audience care about?
A: They want someone able to maintain their platform in the long term and someone available when there is problem, someone always available at the phone when they need.
