miltondove got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Design a Christmas-Themed Logo
Check out miltondove's Logo design contest…
This will be a Christmas-themed website with a variety of content targeting all age groups.
Other color requirements
Include Christmas colors like red and green. Other colors (e.g., brown for the owl's body) are okay, but it should be obvious this is Christmas-themed. Red and green can look tacky if used incorrectly. Make sure to use the colors in a stylish and tactful way.
IMPORTANT: Some designers are submitting just a graphic without any text. I'm rejecting all of these. A logo is a graphic plus text. I need to see a full logo to consider you. The logo should include a cute owl graphic with the text "Christmas Owl" to the right of it. The logo will be used in the header of a website, so it can't be too tall. The owl graphic should be about the same height as the text. If the owl is too tall, the logo would have to be very large in order to make the text legible. This is undesirable because I don't want to waste a lot of vertical space with a logo. eBay and Amazon are good examples of an appropriate logo size. Use the following guidelines for designing the owl graphic: The owl should be cute and colorful. If you search for "owl clip art" on Etsy.com, you will see many examples of this general style. Don't make the owl graphic too detailed. I prefer something that will work at an even smaller size than the website version. For example, using the logo as a watermark in the footer of a print document. If there is too much detail, this won't be possible. The owl should have Christmas or winter clothing like a Santa hat or a scarf. Text guidelines Use a font that is easy to read. Logos with ugly or complex fonts will be rejected. The two words can include a space between them or omit it. Use whatever looks best for your design. Additionally, the two words should be next to each other on the same line. I thought this would have been obvious from the other instructions, but I'm getting way too many submissions that get this wrong, so I'm clarifying.
