How dgarlough started their logo design journey
Who are you known as?
Porinchak's Trucking LLC
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We use dump trucks to haul heavy materials like gravel, paving material, dirt, concrete, etc. Our customers are building site developers and construction/building companies who require these materials to be transported to or from their construction sites. We are a woman-owned small business, which gives us the ability to compete for certain types of government contracts. Ideally we would find some way to communicate the woman-owned or woman-operated concept into a visual representation in our logo. We aren't necessarily looking for a feminine approach overall, but communicating the female-owned status is advantageous to our business. Men will still be driving the truck, so we can't put a giant lipstick tube on the door. :)
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
What colors do you want to see in your design?
To give us an idea of the overall feeling of your brand, let us know which styles you lean towards
We will use the logo on the side of the trucks so it should be suitable for creation of vinyl stick-on and on business cards. We would like the logo to be identifiable as trucks are traveling on the road or from across a worksite.
UPDATE 6/13/19 2:36PM Eastern
Thank you to all who have submitted design concepts so far. We have a good representation of thought around approach to the name/abbreviation treatment, some of which we like a great deal.
We understand the constraints that the colors, name, and truck create, which limit the number of viable approaches. We have added whites to the color palette and would consider a monochrome logo, if this helps at all.
We would love to see any creative thought around how to communicate the woman-owned aspect. Perhaps something along the lines of a "badass grandma" theme? We could envision some kind of very simple line drawing of an old woman's face being included in the logo. You can use these links for inspiration, but we'd want grandma to be a little more wild-looking and as simple as possible. https://www.istockphoto.com/vector/ https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-g
We will attempt to answer questions fairly quickly through this evening (Eastern US time) and then again in the early AM tomorrow.
