Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are an investment firm focused on investing growth capital in bootstrapped, founder backed businesses that provide technology which offer consumers and businesses more convenience, choice, and control. We take a collaborative approach to our investments and will work hand-in-hand with our companies to unlock their full potential.
Our target audience will be North American based founders who have never had an institutional investor before and are seeking a partner who can provide capital to grow their business as well as decades of industry expertise. The founder's company will be doing greater than $3 million in revenue and growing at more than 20% year over year. In addition, their company may be underserved by traditional private equity and or venture capital firms, which may be much more rigid in the way they invest. We can be creative and flexible in our investment mandate.

We are a Boston based firm. The founder was previously at a big private equity firm and left to start a business. He realized that for smaller businesses that were growing quickly there aren't a lot of investment firms out there servicing that marketplace. Hence why Square Root Capital was born. The name Square Root was chosen because the co-founders were listing all of the key metrics they were looking for in businesses and the list was fairly extensive. The co-founders then decided to simply the list and condense it into a Square Root of the number of items. This simplification helped frame the handful of criteria that comprise what Square Root Capital's team looks for.
