Who are you known as?
What’s your company slogan?
No need to incorporate, but leaving it for context. The slogan is "Alcanza tus sueños" (spanish for "Reach your dreams" or "Afford your dreams"); the word "Alcanza" has a double meaning in spanish.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Kiwi is a technology platform (web, mobile) that helps users purchase products in advance through affordable payment plans, while allowing merchants to widen their customer base and increase sales.
Kiwi uses principles similar to the “layaway” business concept in the U.S. In layaway, partial payments are made towards the purchase of a product and, once all payments are completed, the product is released to the buyer.
We seek to cater specific needs and opportunities in emerging market such as low-incomes and limited banking, as well as the increasing penetration of smartphones, to provide quality services to consumers and merchants.
Our target are mid/low-income families in emerging economies, specifically:
• Home finance manager
• Fixed income
• Owns a smartphone
• Regularly enters community/informal "saving clubs"
• Bad experience with credit

Although a financial-services startup, we want our image to be less "banky". There is aversion to banks and financial institutions in the segments we are targeting so, although we do want to communicate that we will be dealing with people's money, we will do so in an efficient, amicable, simple and intelligent way. Furthermore, we are more focused on commerce than on banking. Our goal is to increase spending efficiency of families with limited resources; that is the origin of the name Kiwi (Key Innovations for Wealth Improvement), although we are not using the acronym anymore (again, to be less "banky").
