SQUIRREL
SQUIRREL - Clearing Clutter Bit by Bit
SQUIRREL is the name of the European Research project "SQUIRREL: Clearing Clutter Bit by Bit" which is going to develop a robot that cleans up childrens rooms. The children, age 6-10, will teach the robot (think of a larger roomba with an arm) how to find and handle stuff (toys, Lego bricks, shoes, ..) and where they should be put, e.g. to form impressively high stacks, build bridges and castles, or perhaps to even orderly stow them away. All this is going to be tested in kindergardens and after school day cares. The scientific goal of this project with its 9 partners is how to tackle all the clutter that the robot is going to face, i.e. finding things in clutter, finding its way and driving through clutter, planning what to do in this mess, communicating with a bunch of noisy children.
An important emphasis is the playful collaboration between children and robot, rather than seeing the robot as a slave that is simply commanded to clean.
The logo could be robot like, or squirrel like, or a squirrel-like robot. Maybe doing something with an object. Just some ideas.
