Flock Life is a mobile application focused on community engagement through challenges. Users create challenges and invite members of their community to participate alongside them and/or encourage them as supporters. The overall goal is driving toward individual and group improvement. Betterment through social encouragement and accountability. Challenges could be exercise related, for example, but can be in different categories as well.
Our branding is focused around Flock. Flocking behavior in birds involves directional alignment and cohesion of movement. In the case of the Flock Life application, the directional alignment is toward a goal (challenge) and cohesion is the pursuit of the goal by the group. This manifests as continual, communal improvements by the group and, as a result, for the individual members of the group. The entire focus centers around the group (flock) improving together as one. The concept of the flock evokes directionality and purpose (think of a flock of geese migrating).
We’ve had ideas around different birds that we could use and what would be best to demonstrate the ideas of flock life and have struggle in picking an identity. We would like your help to drive this design. We like the idea of representing an individual of a flock as some sort of icon or image that come together (flock-like) with replicates of that image to display a larger version of the original image. We also like cranes and other iconic migrating birds. Origami birds have been something we have tried to stray away from, but we are huge fans of strong geometric designs. Another idea about our branding would be to utilize our icon/logo on our homepage moving as a flock. Just youtube "sparrow flocks" and you'll get the idea.
