Jscremer got their new app design by running a design contest:
Macaws! A Simple Educational Game App About Macaws In The Amazon Rainforest
Check out Jscremer's App design contest…
Learning About Macaws - We are creating a simple iPad application. This is a simple educational game app that is going to be used at a children's museum in Canada. It will help people learn about the Macaws that live in the Peruvian Amazon jungle. The app will have two simple games plus a section where people can learn about macaws.
Colorful with lots of animation. I also attached a .jpg of an app that looks kind of cool. Its just an idea but feel free to do whatever you think is cool.
I made some simple wireframes with my ideas and that show the games. (which can be seen in the wireframe that I have attached). Feel free to change what ever you feel is necessary. For example , I'm not sure that I like the way that I have the top nav) Also, the app is very simple so I think that a way to spice it up would be to use lots of color and cool animations and transitions between screens. Macaws are very colorful so it would be good to have a very colorful app. Screen (1) Home Menu/Title Screen Screen where users can navigate around the app Screen (2) Match the Macaws - Use your finger to drag the picture of the macaw to the correct name on the list. Screen (3) Learning about Macaws – Users can touch a floating image of a macaw which will take them to a page with information on the species. Screen (4) Macaw Information Pages – This page will have a cover flow that people can scroll through to see different images of macaws. They can click on a picture that will go to full screen size. The people can then zoom in and out of the picture or choose to go back to the information page. Notes Unless you are going to do the programming, we will require a layered .psd file for each screen so that we can crop/cut out all of the design elements and include them in the app. I've attached some images that I like to give you a rough idea of what to look for in your designs. I'm not a designer but I hope that I gave you some good ideas. I'm giving you free reign to use your creative skills - make it fun and simple but with a professional (good looking app) feel. Any questions or feedback feel free to ask.
