What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Miami University's Office of Community Engagement and Service empowers students, faculty, staff and community members to create meaningful change in their communities and to facilitate transformative learning experiences rooted in real world issues.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We are looking to create two t-shirts for our office that will communicate who we are to students and other across campus. We are not looking for your typical, boring, free t-shirt, but something that students would want to purchase if they saw it in a store. We are looking for a cool, graphic-inspired design that is very clear and striking. Either in the "Hope" Obama style or a more illustrated style. See reference art for details and inspiration. The first t-shirt design should feature a photo of activist Malala Yousafzai's face. Above it should be her name (perhaps in a banner) and below should be the words "Activist. Humanitarian. Heroine." On the back should be this quote: "I raise up my voice not so I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard."--Malala Yousafzai Underneath the quote should be our office's logo. The second design should feature Frederick Douglass (photo attached), his name on the top of the portrait (again perhaps in a banner) with the words "Activist. Statesman. Hero." The quote on the back should read "For it is not light that is needed, but fire; it is not the gentle shower, but thunder. We need the storm, the whirlwind, and the earthquake."--Frederick Douglass Once again, the office logo should go underneath. We can only print in up to two colors, but preferably just one.
I have attached some reference art here, including a shirt that was created in the past using the style I have referenced above. I have attached a photo of Malala that we would like to use; however, if a better one is located we are open to switching. This should be something that will inspire young people to take action in their own communities. One route to take would be using Miami Red as the color in which the shirt is printed on a light colored background. In this case, Miami red is Pantone 186. I am also attaching here the office's logo in black and also white to allow for printing on multiple colored shirts.
