We’re 99designs’ Community Team. We offer a regular series of Community Contests to help you build your portfolio, improve your skills and have some fun while receiving direct feedback from 99designs staff. We can’t wait to see what you create next!

Masks. Once only worn by bank robbers or doctors, now a global fashion accessory. What does yours say about you? What could yours say about you? What could somebody else's say about you? This is where creativity meets possibility. People now have to wear masks all day in their jobs and often they can be unpleasant and boring. We want to take this ‘space’ and turn it into an opportunity to showcase all the amazing designers we have here at 99d who are ready and waiting for work! That’s why we want you to design your signature mask. Think of it as a blank canvas for you to tell the world exactly what you’re about as a creative. WHAT DO WE WANT YOU TO DO? Create a wearable design that represents you as a designer. Get people curious about the creative behind the design. Tell us a bit about your design and why it represents you. Our mission is to get your design out into the world whilst providing workers with cool, functional masks! The winning designs will get printed onto masks and gifted to businesses, alongside a little bio on the designer who made it. The 99d team will also be wearing and promoting your work on our faces for the foreseeable future. Just think, if you win, your mask design will be advertising you every time someone wears it. Your design could be seen by 1000’s of people a day! The winning mask designs will also be shared with our entire community via the 99designs blog and social channels. All winning designers will be required to create a print-ready mask design (specs below), as well as submit a digital version of their illustration. - - - - - INSPIRATION This should reflect you as a creative. Your style, your skills, your passion. Not sure where to start? Here are a few themes you could use to express your talents: • Connection / community theme • Cheerful and geometric patterns • Different kinds of mouths (person, cat etc.) • Fashion / seasonal trends (colours, textures etc.) • Abstract and expressive design Don't see one you like? - - - - - WHAT TO AVOID Keep in mind this is something people have to wear to work - avoid themes that aren’t work appropriate. These should be designs that anyone in the world can wear and understand so avoid using words. Something to consider when designing is masks have pleats in them so they can expand across the face. Whether it’s folded, partially or fully expanded we want to still be able to appreciate the design. The surface area of a mask is relatively small so please avoid designs that are too complex or detailed. We want to be able to appreciate your beautiful work! <3 Stock images should not be used in this design. - - - - - SPECS Ideally, your image should be scaled to 100% at 200dpi Use sRGB image profile, to achieve the best colour results. 5mm bleed area L 170mm x W 120mm
