Jdouglasj got their new other web or app design by running a design contest:
Mostly just some color editing for this Evernote App.
Check out Jdouglasj's Other web or app design contest…
It is an Evernote application that links notes to one another and then retrieves and displays notes based on those links. Target audience is researchers, students, professors, writers, lawyers, designers, accountants, or basically anyone that deals in complex ideas.
What's your vision?
There are four screens: 1) The main feed 2) The link view 3) Link Mode 4) The annotation window For the most part the layout of these screens is already finished but I would like to see some variation in terms of color palette. The current design shows dark colors, but what about something brighter and monochrome? Or show me a different palette with dark colors if you have one in mind. I need to see some variation to decide what works best. The Main Feed Presentation of the notes and how they are laid out will not change at this point. The only thing on which you need to work in the main feed is the color palette. Link View In the Link View note in the center of the screen is connected to the notes appearing on the right hand side of the screen. Those bands of color coming out indicate that they are linked to the note in the center. If you have a better idea for how to portray those links, please show me. The layout of the Link View probably won't change, so you are just tinkering with the color palette and the links. Link Mode The User enters the Link Mode by selecting a note he wishes to link to other notes. That note drops to the bottom center of the screen and then he can tap the notes he wishes to link. The signal color appears showing him that the note has been selected (see attached file). I don't like the current signal color (sort of a salmon color). The icons at the bottom of the screen do the following (from left to right): Cancel (X); Toggle base note up and down (chevron); Create a New Note (+); Show all currently linked notes (eyeball); and Link the Selected Notes (chain icon). You are free to change the look of these icons. #4. The annotation window. This is not designed yet. It is just a quick editor where you can write a short note to annotate the link between two notes, AND you can select a color FOR THE LINK between those two notes. You can design this simple window from scratch. Since the note icons will have color in them, there will be color on the screen no matter what. Also, the user can color code links so there will be color there as well, so this annotation window ties in with the LINK VIEW.
I have attached files of each view. The main feed is a photoshop file so you can start working with those colors right away without building anything in Photoshop. I do not have PSD files for the other files.
