derek0B got their new t-shirt by running a design contest:
Breaking Censorship with the Open Source Tech Improvement Fund
Check out derek0B's T-shirt contest…
We are a charity that deals with software security. We're looking for a theme that symbolizes security / hacking / privacy / etc. Themes could include "digital-looking" content. Maybe something like a retro computing theme or similar. The current fundraiser is for a project that breaks censorship systems around the world, so that could also play into the design. We have added a few past shirt designs as attachments. One is an actual Snowden document that shows that the NSA can't break real encryption, the other is stylized jellyfish that uses network cables and the wifi logo.
Somewhere on the shirt must be the URL of our charity: https://ostif.org, a one-sided design is preferred over two-sided printing for cost reasons.
What to avoid
references to enemies of privacy (Google, Facebook, Amazon, LinkedIn, etc), any camp-y symbols of hacking like guys wearing ski masks and typing. (our org participates in ethical hacking)
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. T-shirt starts at ¥21,399.
Full copyright with production-ready files for digital and/or print.
It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their t-shirt.
Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
derek0B collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected 2 winners!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
