Homepage - e.g. http://staging.make-a-store.com/
Product Information Page - e.g. http://staging.make-a-store.com/sta…art/1.html
Thumbnail Content Page - eg http://staging.make-a-store.com/cat…gs/1.html#
Homepage - We want a grid layout with a light feel. The focus should be on the content, not the site/container. We have tried to capture this on the home page above, but feel that it is not 'polished' enough. We do want to use slideshows and clever ways to target our main target audiences (see the section "Shopping Cart Software for Everyone"). The home page should have a specific message in each section. The current homepage above focuses on the product capabilities in the main splash/slide show area, followed by secondary messages targeting 'who' should use the system with a third section encapsulating the vast scope of our platform.
Product Information Page -
The current version doesn't show screenshots or videos, we do plan on providing a visual method for each app that we sell. This will be rolled out over time but we should have placeholders to show either a slideshow or video to support the copy on the page.
Thumbnail Content Page - The focus is really on the titles of each article.
Overall, there is a lot we like about the current site, but we just do not feel that it is 'polished and professional' enough.
Note how we started to go in an iconic direction with the above staging site. We like the use of icons, but feel that our implementation is not the best and it can be done better.
The font choice we are using for the new site is Ubuntu, but we may be open to similar fonts.
The width for the content is 1024px, but we may be open to adjusting that as well.
We have a lot to say (as you can see from the current site) but need a more "2.0" way of presenting it. We can accommodate both small businesses as well as mid market businesses. We do not have 1000s of customers, like the bigger named competitors, such as bigcommerce, shopify, volusion, etc. We give each customer real personal support and services and help them to succeed. Our prices (will be changing in 2012) will start at $250/month which is higher than the competitors like bigcommerce, but MUCH less than who we really compare with, demandware.com, venda.com, elasticpath.com, etc.
We need the site to be understandable regardless if you are small and looking for something like shopify.com or larger looking for a demandware.com.
