Accounting & Financial
Advance is a full-service bank and financial management service that enables young people on tight budgets to optimize their financial lifestyles by providing advanced visualization and decision support tools. We are building a consumer bank targeted at young people, focused on closely mirroring their financial lifestyles and how they think about money. Primarily, we’re including an engine that forecasts how financial activities now (buying a TV, investing, having a $2.99 coffee every day) affect one’s financial future. We're also building in savings engines, purchase recommendations, and investment accounts to encapsulate the spectrum of goals and financial needs. Fundamentally, we're building a banking model that lives like the consumer does, and helps the user make important financial and life decisions critical to long-term success.
Simple.com – Design of the homepage and the clear call-to-action. Product is similar. MangoMoney.com – Homepage design below the fold, dashboard design Wepay.com – Homepage design, color scheme inDinero.com – Dashboard design is one of the best I’ve seen. Homepage color scheme and homepage design are also good. Wonga.com – User interactivity on the homepage Codeacademy.com – User interactivity on the homepage
Home Page: Should introduce the concept of Advance and prompt new users to try out the service. Existing users should be prompted to sign in. The primary goal of the home page is to succinctly communicate the key message of Advance. The user should follow the call-to-action and try out an account. User Dashboard: This should present a succinct view of the user’s finances. This is the user’s primary portal to their finances, and should the most intuitive part of the site. The user should be able to glance at the dashboard and get a sense of whether or not they are on budget, their savings levels, and whether or not they are able to make a larger purchasing decision. This is where it’s important to be “as simple as possible, but no simpler.”
Wireframes should be used as guidance, not as strict boundaries. No logo yet, please use a placeholder. Advance is targeting college students, graduate students, and those having just entered the workforce (primarily between the ages of 21 and 29). Most will be well-educated, but are just starting to get their feet under them financially. Many will have student loans or other debt weighing on them, but will have a positive outlook. Within that audience, we are targeting those that don’t have regular incomes. An irregular income (from student loans, summer jobs, research grants, odd jobs, etc) makes it more difficult to gain a sense of financial control, which is what our product offers. Our audience will largely be avid social media users, smartphone users, and generally technically savvy. Some adjectives we’d like to invoke: Intuitive In control Comforting Secure Simple At ease Trustworthy Manageable Slightly rebellious Edgy
