Der Name kommt aus dem Griechischen und besteht aus zwei Wörter. Petra für Stein / Gestein und Ichor steht gemäss griechischer Mythologie für das Götterblut. Petrichor beschreibt ein Naturphänomen - es ist der Regenduft, wenn es an heissen Sommertagen regnet und dieser einzigartige markante Geruch entsteht. Im logo sollten Elemente wie Regen(-tropfen), Wolke, Steine oder Sonne enthalten sein.
