The Queer Referat of the University of Hamburg is a safer space for Queer people. We are part of the students body (AStA) and do a lot of events (f.e. game nights, film nights, cocktail evenings and safer space events for nonbinary, intersex and trans people). We also do students consulting and organize a truck on the yearly Christopher Street Day Parade in Hamburg.

The Queer Referat of the University of Hamburg asks for drafts for a new logo. Conditions: Like our current logo, the new logo should consist of our name "Queer Referat" and a graphic element. As in the current logo, name and graphic can form a unit (the written name is currently included in the large letter Q) – but the two parts can also be separate from each other in the future logo, e.g. B. under or next to each other. If the graphic element has enough recognition value to be used on its own as a “small logo” in stamps or as a watermark etc., that would be “nice to have”. But this is not a requirement. Colors: The logo can contain the rainbow colors, but does not need to. It could as well only be monochrome. Two-tone is not an option because binary doesn’t represent queer. If the logo contains the rainbow colors, then the progression colors MUST go with it (black and brown, light blue, pink and white). Gradient color like in the current logo are no longer wanted in the future logo. Regardless of the color scheme, we ask that you also design a vector graphic that only contains the outline of the logo. These outlines must be recognizable even without color. Shape: The design for the new logo is completely free and can be abstract. The following are mere suggestions, not conditions, for more specific designs. The shape of the new logo could refer to various institutions (but does not have to): - AStA of the University of Hamburg (our current logo is derived from it, so a new interpretation would also be possible - University of Hamburg - City of Hamburg A continuation of our two E facing each other in the current design would also be welcome, but is not a necessary condition. Hamburg specific shapes, e. g. the Elbphilharmonie or the Hamburg skyline, could be included, but should not be used subtly. Too great a resemblance to existing institutions without relation to the Queer Unit should be avoided. Designs with symbolism that contradict the queer philosophy and inclusion disqualify themselves.
